Who are Gregory & Porritts?

The name Gregory & Porritts has been synonymous with quality retailing in the town since 1895. Today the firm’s Knowlsley Street store is loaded from top to bottom with the most beautiful furniture – from traditional to modern - with most of the famous names included. Nor does it end there, with the firm carrying catalogues from most manufacturers, so that what the customer sees on display in the store is only a small part of what is on offer.

Founded by two local families, the firm originally traded from Bolton Market Hall before making a move to premises in Great Moor Street in 1925.

What has been the secret of the firm’s longevity? Perhaps the store’s well known slogan ‘Our name is your guarantee’ says it all. The firm’s reputation has spread until its name has become known far and wide; today Gregory & Porritts’ vans deliver as far afield as Wales, Southern England and Scotland.

It is hardly surprising that, when it comes to furnishing one’s home with the finest quality at competitive prices, and with the quality of service just as high, folk are still flocking to Gregory & Porritts of Bolton after more than a century of business.
